Fesmire is the Director of New Mexico’s Oil Conservation Division, and was recognized for his work protecting New Mexico’s health, wildlife, and drinking water through the development and implementation of the Pit Rule and groundwater protection compliance. “All New Mexican’s owe Mark Fesmire a debt of gratitude,“ stated Sandy Buffett, Executive Director of Conservation Voters New Mexico, “As a tireless public servant, Mark Fesmire has staunchly defended our precious water quality and public health.” The Conservation Hero Award is awarded annually by Conservation Voters New Mexico to individuals that demonstrate a strong commitment to the health and protection of New Mexico’s environment, citizens, and wildlife.
